Hardships and triumphs

Roma Bankowski

Interview with Roma Bankowski

1. Please tell us something about your background and your art journey so far.

My background as an artist started when I was very young. I was always passionate about creating, sculpting, and drawing. I got accepted into the Academy of Fine Art in Łódź, where my career began. My artistic themes have always been varied but continue to orbit one central prospect: my personal life and emotions.

2. Can you tell us more about the theme in your art and your inspiration?

I depict the hardships and triumphs I have faced, using my art as a vivification of my emotions. I find inspiration in these personal experiences, as well as the beauty of nature and the complexity of human relationships. My work often explores themes of resilience, vulnerability, and connection.

3. How does your art life impact other parts of your life?

My art has become my work. I run a small café near Sawbridgeworth and Harlow called The Art Cafe, where my life revolves around creating a peaceful atmosphere for my customers and creating art when it is not busy. Balancing art with my responsibilities at the café has taught me the importance of time management and prioritizing what truly matters.

4. Share your worst experience in the art world.

My worst experience as an artist would be the lack of ideas during a long break from art. The loss of creativity and adoration for the thing I loved was heartbreaking. It can get too much at times, but I have learned to push through and find inspiration again.

5. What are you working on at the moment and are there any upcoming events you would like to talk about?

Currently, I am working on pieces that focus on womanly nature and experiences. These pieces can be found on my social media and in my store. I am excited to share these new works with my audience and hope they resonate with others as deeply as they do with me.
